Service Pack B1 for the 777
Hello Pilots!
We are going to release the 777 SP1b update (Service Pack B-1) to you
on Friday, 08AUG14. We anticipate the update becoming available for
download during the afternoon, US EDT.
SP1b update is primarily designed to improve stability on issues that
we have been investigating and reporting to you as fixed. (Cockpit
freezes, control freezes and some optimizations and other minor
tweaks...)
This update will come to you in the form of a
universal installer that is capable of updating either the original
release version of the 777, or an installed SP1 version of the 777.
There is no need to uninstall the 777 in order to update to SP1b, and
any guidance along those lines is just wasting your time- so 99.9% of
you will be able to simply download the SP1b update, run the executable
file, and you will have a perfect copy of SP1b installed the next time
you run FSX.
With this, SP1b update we are also going to refresh
the 777-300ER to include some fixes that we have collected on that
since it was released last month. I will have more information on those
and the update process for the 300ER at release time...
On the
topic of "FSX pauses" and "airplane wanders at 8x and 16x" problems,
this update is not expected to address those issues. We are still
researching and collecting data on those two items and we anticipate
eventually pushing out an SP1c to address those issues as we find/kill
them. (I am prepping a major update dealing solely with those issues so
that you have an idea where we are on that topic...)

A few moments ago we have made live for you the SP1b update that will enhance the stability of the PMDG 777-200LR/F and PMDG 777-300ER products.
As I have mentioned in a few places, thes SP1b update is designed to improve the product stability by eliminating a some lockup/freeze/CTD conditions that we found with user help after the release of SP1 back on 18JUL14.
This update also enhances the stability of the airplane itself by correcting a few conditions that caused some minor instability in the pitch control model of the autoflight system. Additionally we have done a bit more tweaking with trim behavior to further smooth the pitch channel when flying by hand.
In addition to these changes- we have had occasion to take up a few other minor items, some of which are included in the following list:
[FMS - Setup/Options Pages] 300ER door 5L/R doesn't have a key command entry (abashkatov) - resolved.
[External Model - Geometry] 777-200LR tail strike sensor (jbrown) - resolved.
[General - SDK] SDK user claims variables aren't transmitted (abashkatov) - resolved.

This installer is universal, and will update you from either the v1.0 (Original Release of the 777) or the v1.10 (SP1 Release of the 777).*
*Note that a dozen or so users received "Test Updates" from our tech support team as part of our trouble-shooting/data collection process. Those users may need to completely reinstall the 777, as this patch will not detect the test versions as valid updates...
After you have run the installation, run the OPERATIONS CENTER and it will advise you that your Liveries need to be corrected. Simply click on the menu to authorize the O.C. doing the work for you- and you will be up and running in about 4 seconds... (This is the beauty of the OC... Remember when you had to install 3,000 liveries by hand?)
UPDATE YOUR 300ER AS WELL:
We made a few minor cosmetic changes to the 300ER models and textures as well, and updated the 300ER installer that is inside your account at our ecommerce system. These updates are mostly really minor, but if you want the very latest please feel free to grab another copy of the 300ER from your download account.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?:
We are still working to find/replicate and resolve issues related to FSX Pauses and aircraft heading wandering during time-accelerated flight. We have no further updates on these two items tonight, but we hope to relatively soon.

Ich hab heute mal auf meinem Flug DXB-MNL den Fuel Burn verglichen...
Während PFPX auf ne Flugzeit von 08:02 69,6 Tonnen Trip Fuel anschlägt, verbraucht meine -300ER während 08:07 nur 63,3 Tonnen Fuel.
Ist das noch anderen aufgefallen und habt ihr ne Lösung dafür?
(Ehrlich gesagt möchte ich nur ungern den PMDG-Support dazu ansprechen, die kriegen es auf Avsim sogar fertig, reale 777-Kutscher aus Dubai belehren zu wollen, wie toll sie sich doch als Supportmenschen mit Luftfahrt und der T7 auskennen und PMDG ist ja sowieso die Krone der Menschheit. Das Flugzeug ist trotzdem gut.)
Tja. Das ist mir auch aufgefallen. Laut meiner Rechnung sind das dann etwa 10% Minderverbrauch gegenüber PFPX.
Das Problem ist, dass man zwar den Fuelflow in der aircraft.cfg anpassen kann, dann aber die Vorhersagen im FMS nicht mehr stimmen. Allerdings kann man FF und Drag auch in der CDU ändern.
Nichtsdestotrotz sind 10% inakzeptabel.

Was mich bei der ganzen Sache halt anko...tzt ist, dass die PMDG-Supportleute im avsim-Forum wie Halbgötter fühlen. Ich wäre ja nicht der erste, der das Problem anspricht, aber dort wurden alle Anfragen zum Thema nach dem Motto "Das Aircraft fliegt 5% innerhalb des Realen, wenn nicht, machst du was falsch." behandelt, auch wenn die Bemerkung von einem realen Kapitän mit 6000+ Stunden kommt.
Wo kann ich denn in der CDU den FuelFlow bzw. Drag ändern? Das wäre mir neu.
Das geht auf der IDENT Page. Allerdings hat das keine Auswirkungen auf den tatsächlichen Verbrauch.
Ok, also doch nur per cfg, oder das Profil in PFPX anpassen.
Habe in PFPX bei der 77W jetzt 95 als Verbrauchswert eingetragen, dass klappt ganz gut.
Ich würde eher versuchen die Fuelflow scalar anzupassen, da PFPX nicht zu viel veranschlagt, sondern die 777 zu wenig verbraucht.
Ja ok. Habt ihr schon einen realistischen Wert gefunden für die aircraft.cfg?
Warum in der CFG anpassen? Das verfälscht dann ja alles auch im Hinblick auf die CDU. Reicht doch wenn du es in PFPX abänderst

Ja, Goof, wir haben mittlerweile verstanden dass du nicht so der Realo-Freak bist. Is ja auch nicht schlimm, Deutschland ist ein freies Land.
Aber es ist nunmal so, dass, wenn PMDG posaunt, dass ihr Flieger innerhalb von 5% der realen Werte fliegt, er es auch tun sollte.
Mir wäre es auch wayne. Und wenn Goof so was sagt, heißt das schon was. Sonst wird er immer ganz wuschig wenn das berechnete immer so perfekt stimmt
Ich habe bei meinem Flug gerade einen Verbrauch von 7,8t/h im Schnitt gehabt. Laut Tripfuel hätten es 8,2t/h sein sollen. Das macht einen Minderverbrauch von etwas mehr als 5%. Daher habe ich den fuel_flow_scalar = 0.89676 gesetzt, was genau dem Faktor entsprecht, den ich zu wenig verbraucht habe.
