lands in Africa- Scheduled flights to Johannesburg commenced
- High payload of freighters guaranteed
Johannesburg in South Africa is the latest destination served by ACG Air Cargo Germany GmbH. Last weekend the first Jumbo freighter B747-400F took off from Hahn airport en route to the O R Tambo International Airport, the main gateway of South Africa’s economic and financial center.
The aircraft was fully loaded carrying 105 tons southwards on its maiden flight. The new route will be served twice weekly with departures at ACG’s hub Frankfurt-Hahn each Wednesday and Saturday (weekdays 3 and 6).
Outbound the aircraft will land in Tripoli for fuel stops since the B747-400 freighters are not able to operate nonstop between Hahn and Jo’burg if fully loaded due to limited range capability. On their northbound course the freight planes stop over at Nairobi for commercial reasons. At Jomo Kenyatta International their main decks will be filled with flowers and other perishables for European consumers in addition to the shipments loaded in South Africa.
“Thanks to a number of binding blocked space agreements numerous logistics providers have signed the payload of our Johannesburg services will be significant over a foreseeable period of time,” emphasizes ACG’s CEO Michael Bock. This accounts for both flights, south- and northbound hence the entire roundtrip.
The remaining rest capacity will be marketed by Frankfurt-based GSA Sky Reps Aviation Services GmbH.
ACG’s helm Bock further point out that the newly offered Africa flights have no influence on the air freight carrier’s current network or schedule. “We keep on serving our destinations in Middle East, Central Asia, Far East, and India in the same manner as we have done up to now without any single change.”
